What your sun-sign says about you?

So, he is a scorpion. He must be a very passionate lover.

Ohh!! Does that mean other sun signs can’t love passionately (perhaps not as passionately as a scorpion)

Are you ready to believe that? If yes, I would be more than happy.

So, you are a Leo. You must be very egoistic, pompous, intolerant etc.

My question to Leo-ites, are you really connecting with the statement?

This list can go on but the point is that to what extent these so called well researched attributes according to your sun sign falls into place and to what extent people actually believe in this and perhaps also judge others & their relationships with it.

Let us look at few actual statements I have heard from people around me that will reflect what outlook some people have towards this whole sun-sign thing and in turn how they may behave.

Wow!! I am a cancerian and he is scorpion. That will be a perfect match. J

Ohh!! I am a Libran and he is a Capricorn. I don’t think this is gonna work. L

In something as serious as a relationship, some people do make some judgments by their own sun sign and their partners sun-signs and the declared compatibility between them.

What I feel is that, If someone feels strongly about these declaration and act accordingly (even subconsciously), then the whole idea may actually turn into reality (what we also term as self fulfilling prophecy)

This idea turned into reality may perhaps make more people wonder that this thing (the whole sun sign based attributes thing) may have some realistic component to it.

The above statements and many more does reflect that to some extent some people do get affected by such conclusions drawn by these pointless books (maybe websites also).

One prime example is that of Linda Goodman’s Sun Sign (which most of you also must have read, at least a part of it), which was the first ever book to earn a spot on the New York time bestseller list.

A New York bestseller – it did sell good, and therefore I have all the more reason to believe that many people do believe it - consciously/subconsciously, sometimes a part of it (which they want to believe) and other times the whole of it.

And as it continues to sell strongly in the market even today, I don’t think that the view needs a change.

If you ask my opinion about it (though all of you must have figured it out), I sincerely oppose the philosophy, the Linda Goodman’ book & others in similar context.

What I don’t wish is to see any person falling into the trap of self fulfilling prophecy driven by the content of these books.

I would like to brief you about one of the researches I read.

The research basically was done on a group of people all of whom were given abstract of what is the nature of their sun sign and were asked whether they could relate to it or not?

The catch was that only half of the whole set of people were given the actual abstracts of their sun sign as per the Linda Goodman’s sun sign book, while for the rest half the abstracts were mismatched.

The astonishing results showed that almost similar number of people (around 90% +) from both the group of people said that they could very well relate there nature with the abstract given to them.

Do you think more need to be said?

The point basically is that when you are given some generic statements about how your group of people behaves, you tend to find some reason or the other to relate to it. Our life is a mixture of so many experiences and it is seriously not very difficult to find experiences relating to most of the generic attributes that these books try to relate to our sun-signs.
